Practice Areas

Engaged Cases

Mr. Toyama’s main areas of business are finance (including the Currency Act and the Trust Law) and legal areas related to corporate governance. However, he constantly pays attention to financial and economic trends as well as financial regulatory trends both in Japan and abroad, and also engages in advisory activities for risk management and compliance of financial institutions. In the past, he strived to establish the Financial Law Board and in addition, served as a lecturer on financial regulations and the central bank law at the Hokkaido University Graduate School, the University Tokyo Graduate School of Public Policy, etc. He has also served as Alternate Executive Director for Japan of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as a member of the Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems and of the Market Committee of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
